*La Mer Sun Screen: This is one of my favorite sunscreens I have ever tried and I’ve been using it for the past few years. It doesn’t leave any white streaks on my face, it melts right in, it leaves a really nice finish and allows my makeup to go on over it so nicely and smoothly. I also never break out from it, which is extremely important to me! It also really protects my skin– even though you’re supposed to reapply, there have been many beach days I haven’t reapplied and I haven’t burned. I absolutely love this sunscreen.

*La Mer eye balm intense: I love this as a splurge too. I’ve been using an eye cream since I was 16 years old, so I have lots of experience with different eye creams. This la mer one is excellent because it’s really hydrating, and I also like the way my eye shadow sits over it. ?Overall, this is also one of my favorite eye creams out there.

VIDEO DETAILS:

Hi guys, welcome back. My name’s Dr. Yazdan and in this video I’m gonna go over my daily skincare routine. So many of you guys have messaged me on Instagram saying that you’d wanna know what products that I’m using, because you think that I have a glowy skin, so thank you so much for that. I’ve decided to give you guys what you want and make this video/blog for you. I’m gonna go over all the products that I use and how I use them, and I will also link them above, so that you guys can go out and get them if you want.

I don’t really switch up my products too often:

As I have aged, every single year my skincare routine becomes so much more important to me. I always wanna make sure that I am being really consistent with my skincare, because I don’t wanna show any signs of aging. The other thing about my skincare routine is that I usually don’t switch up my products. If I find products that work for me, I rarely switch them up. You guys may feel like I have a really clear skin, but I didn’t always have a really clear skin. I suffered from acne, currently all my life my skin has been extremely sensitive, like very sensitive. If you just look at me the wrong way, I will break out.

Because of that, I made sure that I am really, really consistent with my skincare routine and also I don’t like to switch up my products. What you see is basically what I’ve been using for a really long time. If I find something that works or if I wanna try a new product, I will gradually bring it into my skincare routine. I won’t go full out with it and try it every single day. I’ll just gradually bring it in. Let me get to it, let me show you some of the products I use and we’ll get started.

What you eat and drink really effects your skin:

One other thing that I wanna mention is that when it comes to my skincare routine , I also am really conscious about what I’m eating and I’m also really conscious about as drinking as much water as I can. I know it’s really hard for me actually to drink water all day long, because I’m working so much, but my trick is that whenever I think about drinking water, I take a sip, ’cause you’ll be surprised how much water you’ll actually drink when you start doing it that way rather than thinking, “Oh gosh, I have to drink this entire bottle of water.” What I’ll do is make sure that I take sips of water throughout the day and by the end of the day I know that I’ve had a ton of water. Drinking water will keep your skin really hydrated and it’s just good for your whole body. It’s good for your teeth, good for your skin, so I always make sure to drink a lot of water.

The other thing is that I try not to have sugar. I try to stay away from deserts and cookies and all those kinds of things. Besides the fact that it’s bad for your teeth, it’s also bad for your skin. Staying away from things like that has really helped my skin be clear over the years. The other thing I wanna mention is I have cut dairy out of my diet about 90 to 95%. The reason being is that dairy has been known to cause acne and it causes inflammation throughout the body, so just staying away from it can really help you clear your skin up.

Those are a few things that you should know before I start telling you about the products, but now let’s get into the product. By the way, before I tell you about all the products that I use for my skincare routine, I just want you to know that this is all really what I use, none of these products … I’m not an affiliate of any of these products, I don’t get paid to advertise them, this is just strictly what you guys wanted, so I’m giving it to you, I’m telling you all of the products that I personally use.

The skin care routine cleansers and toners:

Okay, so the products that I use, I use them differently depending on if it’s morning or nighttime. I’ll go through all of that with you guys. The first thing that I always do is I cleanse my skin. Before in the past, I’ve used cleansers that feel really harsh on my skin, they leave my skin really dry and if I don’t put moisturizer on right away, then I can just feel my skin almost cracking, and I hate that. I use this Obagi Gentle Cleanser. It’s really nice, because it’s really, really gentle. I found that a lot of cleansers, even if they say they’re gentle, they’re really not. The problem is that they actually remove some of the oils that your skin needs to be hydrated.

That’s why I really like this Obagi cleanser, it’s their gentle cleanser. Now they have a whole line of cleansers and so many different ones, but I personally like this gentle cleanser. By the way, it’s the gel gentle cleanser. I think they also have a foam gentle cleanser, but I like the gel one. The gentle cleanser that I use removes impurities from your skin without drying or causing irritation. Like I said, I have super sensitive skin and have found so many cleansers to be harsh and really dry out my skin, so I love this one because it doesn’t leave my skin dry. The other thing is that this gentle cleanser is actually so gentle I use it to clean off all my makeup at the end of the night.

Okay, so the second thing I do after I cleanse my entire face is that I use a toner. I always use a toner because I feel like it actually cleanse up whatever’s leftover, whatever my cleanser didn’t get off and it also balances the pH of your skin. I use this Obagi toner and I use it in the day and the evening. What I like about it is that it’s alcohol free, so it’s non drying. A lot of toners have alcohol in them, and again, they leave your skin feeling really dry. This one is really nice and it just leaves your skin feeling really clean.

Eye Cream is a must in my skin care routine:

The third thing that I do … First I cleanse, then I use a toner and then, while my skin is kind of drying, I don’t like it to be super dry, but while it’s drying from the toner, I like to use my eye cream. That’s exactly when I use my eye cream. Currently what I’m using is this Obagi ELASTIderm Eye Cream and it’s a really nice consistency. I’m gonna show it to you guys. It’s really nice. Why I like this one is it’s actually clinically proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles around this area. Under your eyes are really delicate type of skin and it’s actually different than all the other skin around your body. You need to be really gentle with that eye area, the under eye area and you need to make sure that you’re taking care of it. ‘Cause when you age, right here is actually where you can show signs of aging first and the most. So you wanna make sure that you’re using products to keep that area hydrated and moisturized throughout the day.

What I like to do is I put like a little bit on my ring finger, because you typically don’t press as hard with your ring finger as you do your other fingers. And then I just will pet it on and very gently rub it and then I actually go all the way around. I go over my eyelids and I pull my eyebrows up while I’m doing it, so I go in these little circular motions and kinda pull my eyebrows up (see video for demo). That way I’m hydrating my under eye area, my eyelids, my eyebrows, and then at the very end a little trick that I like to do is I get my lashes and I go like this. I wipe a little bit of the excess moisturizer to bring my lashes up and then when I put mascara on, if it’s in the morning, then it actually makes my eyelashes look longer.

That’s a little trick I do to make my eyelashes look longer. My mascara seems to go on nicer, I have less clumps and it just looks a lot better, so I really like this. I use an eye cream in the morning and at night, so any time I wash my face, I will always use an eye cream. I specifically love the ELASTIderm Eye Cream because it’s a clinically proven bi mineral complex with malonic acid to reduce the look of wrinkles around the eyes and improve the elasticity. This is my go to eye cream.

New in my routine in the past year: Vitamin C Serum

Okay, so now we’ve cleansed, we’ve toned and we’ve used eye cream. Now I’m gonna talk about a product that I only use in the day. In the night I skip this step, and we’ll go over that later, but in the day, right after I put on my eye cream, I then use this Obagi vitamin C serum. Now I know I’m talking a lot about Obagi products and I totally love their products. They have great products and they have a great skincare line, and different lines for different skin types. I use a combination of products, but for the vitamin C serum, I really like this. It’s 20% vitamin C, so they have a 10%, a 15% and a 20%. I believe that the 20% is more water based, the 10% is more oil based. So vitamin C serums are really great, because they help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and they also help defend against free radicals. I make sure to use this every day.

I’ve actually recently, within the past year, added this into my skin care routine and I feel like this has really helped my skin really glow and be so much brighter throughout the day. I get compliments on my skin all the time, even when I’m at work, even sometimes when I don’t have anything on my skin, people tell me that my skin looks really glowy. Part of it, I think has to do with this vitamin C serum. It’s really nice. I have a little dropper and you can just drop this into your hands and use it accordingly. I like to use five drops. I put it all over my face, my nose.

One thing I haven’t mentioned yet is whatever you do you your face you should also be doing to your neck and chest area, ’cause that area also is really sensitive skin and you wanna make sure that you’re protecting it. I’ll also cleanse my neck like when I’m in the shower. I’ll also put little toner on my neck. Anything that I have left over on my hands after I use this vitamin C serum or any eye cream or anything, I definitely will put on my neck and chest area. Again, I really like this vitamin C serum. I only use this in the daytime. I’ll use this in the morning right after I tone my skin and after I put my eye cream on. The other thing is that when I use this, it helps my makeup go on a lot smoother. I found that it almost acts like a little primer for your skin, so it gives your makeup a nice flowy, glowy finish. I really … I’m all about the vitamin C serum.

Mositurizers in my skin care routine:

The next thing I’m gonna show you is my moisturizer. I use a different moisturizer depending on if it’s day or night. I use a heavier one at night and I use a lighter one if it’s in the daytime. I’ve already put so many products on my face with the toner and the vitamin C serum that I just don’t want too much product on my face. I use a lighter moisturizer, it’s by La Mer. La Mer’s pretty expensive and it’s not clinically proven to do anything the way Obagi is, but I found that their products are really moisturizing and I’m a big fan of their products. I really like this La Mer Cool Gel Cream. The consistency is really nice, you can see inside there. It’s like a nice little gel. It gives you a really nice finish. I’ve also found that my makeup goes on really nicely after I put this on. This actually smells really good, I love the way that it smells. This is kind of an expensive line, but this bottle will last you a really, really, really long time, so I’m okay with it. I like to splurge on skincare products, ’cause I feel like you can never go wrong with trying to pamper yourself and trying to take care of your skin.

If it’s daytime, after I use the vitamin C serum, I use this cool gel cream. Now, if it’s nighttime, what I do is I use a little bit of a thicker cream, which is this La mer moisturizing soft cream. It’s the same sized jar, but you can see that … Well there’s not that much left, but it’s a little bit thicker in here. I like to use this in the evening when I’m done putting my eye cream on, I skip the vitamin C serum and I go straight to this. Again, you wanna make sure that whatever is left over on your hands that you definitely bring it down and moisturize your neck and your chest as well.

Sunscreens in my skin care routine:

The next thing we’re gonna talk about is sunscreen. Sunscreen is so important. You should be wearing sunscreen every day, whether it’s raining, whether it’s snowing, cloudy, whatever it is, sunny, not sunny, whether you’re gonna be inside all day, you should be wearing sunscreen every single day on your face. The sunscreen, my go to sunscreen … By the way that’s the last step that I do of my skin care routine, is my sunscreen. The sunscreen that I prefer for my face is a La Mer one, and it’s the Reparative Face Sun Lotion and it’s SPF 30. I can’t tell you how many times I have been on vacation, in Mexico, in the sun all day, I put this on … Even just one time, you are supposed to reapply it, but even just one time and my face hasn’t burned, but every other place that I haven’t reapplied sunscreen has burned. This is a really good sunscreen.

I also really like Obagi sunscreens. They have many different kinds. This one is really good. They have another one that has like a silver casing or a silver tube, and I really like that one as well. This one I currently use for my neck and my chest area. Again, anything that you do to your face you should do for your neck. The reason I do that is because this is more expensive than this, so I use this for my neck and chest area. This is just as good, but I like the way my makeup looks after I apply this and it doesn’t leave any white residue or any streaks or any extra smudges all over your face. I really like the way that this blends, especially when I’m using a vitamin C serum, a moisturizer and this, I like the way this looks. One thing I wanna mention is that your SPF should be SPF alone, it shouldn’t be combined with a makeup, it shouldn’t be combined with a moisturizer. Studies have shown that it’s more effective if your SPF is by itself. This is just pure SPF. I use this in the day, of course in the evening I don’t need any sunscreen before I go to bed, so I skip this step in the evening. But for right now, during the day, these are the two that I use.

Lip care in my skin care routine:

Okay, so now we’re gonna move onto your lips. You also need to care for your lips. The best lip moisturizer that I have found, again, is a lip moisturizer by La Mer. It’s amazing. You could see I’ve used so much of it. I actually don’t really like pots, I like when things are in the pump. One, the ingredients stay potent for longer, and two, I don’t like putting a finger into anything. If I’m ever gonna use my moisturizers, every night before I use them I make sure to wash my hands really well, because I don’t want any dirty fingers or any bacteria or anything going into my pot of cream. For this I use a little lip brush. I got this from Sephora and it’s retractable, it’s super easy to use, I take it traveling. I’ll just put a little bit on to my brush and I put a little bit on my lips and a little bit goes a long way. I use this in the morning and the night and my lips are literally so soft all day and all night. I rarely have a problem with my lips being dry and really this is the best lip gloss I’ve ever used, or lip moisturizer, lip conditioner.

The only thing I don’t like about it is that it doesn’t have SPF in it. If you are going to be in the sun, I recommend using a lip balm that has SPF in it, you can use this underneath and then use the different one on top. But I really like this. Again, this is a little bit more on the expensive side, but I think it’s a really good splurge. This will last me for months, like four, sometimes five months, so it’s worth the investment.

Retin A for my skin care routine:?

The final product that I’m going to show you is … It’s like a game changer. I use Retin-A. When I was really struggling with acne, I made sure to use it every single night. Now I use it about three times a week, it’s still very effective. It’s really good for cell turnover, it actually is anti-aging. This is the Retin-A that I use, it’s actually by Obagi. Obagi has different … I was holding it upside down. Obagi has different strengths of this. The one I use is 0.05%. They have a 0.1%, they have a 0.25%. I really like this. The thing to note about this is that it’s a cream. This you actually need a prescriptions for. Go to your doctor, go to your dermatologist, you can get a prescription, you can pick this up at your pharmacy. If you are getting your Obagi kit, you can definitely get it in your Obagi kit.

I think this is a really great product. If you don’t wanna use it all over your face, then you can use it as a spot treatment. If I had a little blemish somewhere, then I could just get a little bit out like this and put just that much on and then just dab it over whatever blemish that I’m trying to get rid of. I swear I’ve done, and in like one or two days the whole thing was gone. I really swear by Retin-A. I think that this is the main reason that I have what you guys consider to be nice, glowy and good skin. The other thing is that I’m very consistent with my skin care, so I never waver. I’m never too tired to wash my face and do all the steps that I talked about. If you’re trying to get your skin to be really nice and clear, then you wanna make sure you’re really diligent. You always wanna clean off your makeup, you always wanna have a good skin care routine that is easy for you to follow. Make sure you take the time each day to do it, because without the consistency you won’t have that nice, beautiful, clear skin.

Coming soon: Make up routine!

I know some of you have also asked me about my makeup routine. I’ll do a whole another video on that, but basically on a daily basis I don’t wear anything more than tinted moisturizer on my face. I put that on after I use my sunscreen. I’ll use a tinted moisturizer all over my face, and that is just to give me a little bit more color than I have, because I don’t like to look too pale. Of course, if I’m going out to a bigger event or I just want my makeup to look different or I want more coverage, then I will use a foundation. The foundation that I use is also by La Mer. The tinted moisturizer that I use is actually discontinued. It’s by Bobbi Brown, they have another version of it now. But the one that I currently use is an oil free tinted moisturizer by Bobbi Brown and I love it, I swear by it. But they discontinued it. They have a regular one, it’s still really good, so I would recommend getting that.

Final words about my skin care routine:

That is it, that is my skincare routine. Let me know if this was helpful. I hope that you guys liked it. Remember, drink lots of water, stay away from excess sugar, dairy free is always really good. Also, be consistent. Be consistent with your skincare, find what works for you and use those products consistently. Also, I wanted to know that for a period of time Obagi has a kit, it’s called the Nu-Derm kit, and they have a couple other products that I didn’t bring down and I don’t currently use. But I have used them in the past. They have hydroquinone in them, so if you have pigmentation to your skin, those are great products that you can turn to to reduce the pigmentation and make it go away. But the main thing you want to be aware of is products like that or the Retin-A I was showing you. You wanna make sure that you check with your doctor before you actually use them. Anything that you’re adding in new to your skin care routine you wanna make sure that you check with your doctor and it’s okay for you to use.

That is it. I hope you guys really enjoyed this video. Let me know what you wanna see next and I will create it for you. Thank you so much for tuning in and I will see you in the next video/blog.
