If you’re new to me and my channel, my name is Dr. Yazdan. I’m a cosmetic dentist in Newport beach, Ca. I built my business using instagram, and for the past few years I’ve been helping other healthcare professionals use social media to build their businesses too. And now, I’m helping you do the same. So with that said, make sure that you subscribe to my channel, and please hit the bell to be notified everytime I post a new video.Let’s dive into some your daily instagram growth strategy.
Well, let’s state the obvious, social media is here so you can be social. Which means you need to be active and actually engage with your tribe. To be honest, if you’re not going to spend time engaging on the social media platforms that you’re active on then you may as well not be using them to market your business.
This is especially true if you’re a healthcare professional. You’re likely not selling a product on social media that’s $5-$10. You’re marketing your business, where you have high ticket items. And the only way people are going to be signing up for treatment with you is if they know, like, and trust you… and if they feel connected to you. And the only way to get people to feel connected to you is to actually engage with them, one-on-one. Which means, you need a social media engagement plan!
Social media is about being social and not just sharing your content and basically having a one-sided conversation with people. It’s the 2 way conversation that’s really going to make the platforms work for you!
I think the main reason a lot of people aren’t as social on social media is that they think that it takes hours each day to truly make an impact and it doesn’t. You don’t have to spend hours commenting, liking, and all of the above on social media every day to actually get results from engaging on social media. You really just need to have a clear social media engagement strategy, a timeframe, and a goal that you’re wanting to achieve.
To help make being more social on social media a lot simpler for you, I’m going to share with you exactly what to do on social media every day to be a lot more social and engaged with your audience… and you only have to spend 15-minutes per day.
But first let me say this. when I first started my account, I was focused so much on getting new followers. Every day all I was trying to do was find new people to follow me. When I took a step back and realized that my numbers didn’t actually matter, and it was more important to have quality followers, I decided I was going to give back to the small amount of followers that I already had. At that time, I had about 430 followers. I started sending direct messages to people and asking them what they wanted to see more of from my page. I started responding to the comments that people left me. I began actually pouring myself into my community. It wasn’t until I started giving back to my community and connecting with them that my account started to actually grow. First I got to 1000 followers, then I made it to 2,000. And now, looking back with over 100k followers, I know where all my mistakes were, and I know how to make my any account grow.
So how do you give back to your community?
Well step #1 is to start engaging with your current community.
It’s important for you to make sure that you’re taking care of the people who have already engaged with you and chosen to follow you. If you have followers, even if it’s 10 followers, then that’s your audience. I say this all the time and I will say it again. Your follower count doesn’t matter. It’s how your followers engage with you that matters. If those 10 followers you have all decided to become active patients in your office, that’s 10 people that would bring money into your office! So if you focus on taking care of the followers you already have, you will have more of a chance of converting those followers to patients, and you will even attract new people to your account! So how do you engage with them? Well, start responding to their comments. If someone took time out of their busy schedule to comment on your photo or video, you need to take time out of your busy schedule to respond back to them. You also need to respond to every single direct message. Responding to comments and direct messages helps build a stronger connection with each person. When your tribe feels connected to you, they will be the ones that will support your page, they will be the ones who are gobbling up everything you have to say, everything you have to offer. They are the ones who will share your page with their friends and family, they are the ones who will go on your journey with you, and ultimately, they are the ones that will buy from you. Responding to every comment and DM is important not matter how big your account gets. But when your account is small, it’s the easiest to manage so start that habit early on. And know that those followers you engage with from the beginning, will be your biggest cheerleaders along the way! Obviously the more time you have to spend doing this, the faster you will have deeper connections, and the faster your account will grow. But for the purpose of having a busy life style, I’d recommend doing this for a minimum of 8 minutes a day.
Step #2 is going to be to engage with your new followers.
If you see that someone recently started following you, build that connection early. Send them a message thanking them for the follow. Send them a message and ask them what they would like to see on your page. You can even go as far as checking out their page and start to add value to it. How do you add value? Here’s an example. Let’s say you are a dermatologist and you find your potential patient posting a photo of herself with her 2 children enjoying a sunny day at the beach in Cabo. Instead of writing “cute pic” or “enjoy” consider writing something like, “Beautiful family photo. Make sure to reapply sunscreen every 2 hours to so you and your children have sun protection all day long.” Or if you sell essential oils, and you find a post of someone who says they are stressed out, you could write a comment saying something like, “Did you know that lavender oils help reduce stress? Try rubbing a drop on each temple and see if it helps!”
These are the ways that you can grab your followers attention. Your new follower may start digging deeper into your account, seeing what you have to offer, and then the sky is the limit!
Now you may be saying that you would be talking back to people, but it seems that people aren’t talking to you. My question to you then becomes, well how many comments have you left on other people’s accounts? How many direct messages have you sent to other people? Which brings me to step #3.
Step #3 is going to be to find new followers and engage with them.
Go through the different hashtags that your ideal patient uses and accounts that your ideal patients follow and engage with the people who are engaging with them. The best way to do this on Instagram is to comment on their posts and like them. But always make sure that when you’re leaving a comment, you’re adding value!
Step 2 and 3—you can spend about 5 minutes a day doing this. Again, the longer you spend doing this, the more engaged your account will be, and the more followers you will accumulate, however, a minimum of 5 minutes a day is very important. And trust me, you can get a lot done in just 5 minutes.
And finally, in step 4 of your daily Instagram growth strategy, you need to check your analytics. This shouldn’t take you more than 2 minutes a day. Your analytics will tell you where your followers are coming from, when they’re online the most, and which pieces of your content they’re resonating with the most. So, you want to make sure that you’re spending some time digging through this so that you’re showing up at the right time and so that you’re creating the type of content your tribe wants to see.
Of course, there is a lot more that you can do to be engaging on social media but if you’re really stretched for time, this will help you get you started. As you find yourself having more time and getting more results, you can add-on more to your daily instagram growth strategy.
Now to keep you organized and get you going, I have a created a free PDF for you to download. It’s a daily 15 min instagram growth checklist that will help you be more efficient and effect.
